What a depressing, morbid state of affairs. The RCMP has to keep their heads warm and a large number of coyotes have to die to accommodate fur trim on their parkas. This is right out of the dark ages. A quick browse on the internet will show there is an abundance of different materials that would do the job. For example Technical Advantage Gear’s windblocking thermal hat, which is 30 per cent earth friendly (green) and good to minus -62C sells for a mere $39.99. If it’s good enough to keep someone warm on the climb to Everest, it should be suitable for the RCMP.

Killing is killing no matter how you play it. Don’t use words like humane or rapid death — animals are not sustainable and renewable resources. Animals have as much right to live out their natural lives as do humans. Humans don’t like to suffer and humans don’t like to die. But we don’t seem to have any problem snuffing out the life of any other creature.

The RCMP are supposed to be the model of all that is good and right in Canada but please, wearing dead animals is no longer acceptable and cannot be justified.
