WHL suspends Bozon for spitting incident

Kamloops Blazers forward Tim Bozon has been suspended by the WHL after a spitting incident following Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings at Interior Savings Centre.

Bozon, an 18-year-old forward who calls Lugano, Switzerland, home, will miss Friday’s game against the host Spokane Chiefs. He will be eligible to return Saturday against the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick, Wash. Kamloops also will play the Winterhawks in Portland on Sunday.

As the clock ran out in Tuesday’s loss — the Blazers’ second in three games following a franchise-record 14 straight victories — Bozon got involved with Edmonton’s Keegan Lowe.

Bozon spit on the defenceman, and was assessed two roughing minors, a misconduct and a game misconduct for his part in the fracas. Lowe received cross-checking and roughing minors, along with two misconducts.
The WHL announced Bozon’s suspension on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, the BCHL’s Salmon Arm SilverBacks traded F Riley Balson, formerly of the Blazers, to the Penticton Vees for forward Evan Anderson and defenceman Mitch Ferguson.

Balson, a Kamloops native, joined the Blazers partway through last season, and had six points, including three goals, in 42 games. He was released before this season.
