Goaltender Marcus Beesley had quite a weekend for the Kamloops Storm.

And when it was all over the Storm was only one point out of first place in the Doug Birks Division.

On Sunday, Beesley stopped 39 shots as the Storm scored the game's last two goals and beat the division-leading North Okanagan Knights 5-3 in Armstrong.

That came one night after Beesley turned aside 30 shots in a 2-1 overtime victory over the Eagles in Sicamous.

In Armstrong, forward Connor Fortems broke a 3-3 tie as the Storm improved its record to 12-7-2-2. They are one point behind the Knights (14-7-0-1) and one ahead of the Eagles (11-4-2-3).

The Storm, which held period leads of 2-1 and 3-2, watched as Darien Head pulled the Knights even early in the third period.

However, Fortems scored at 3:20 and Austin Braid added insurance at 8:23.

Daniel Buchanan, Brett Watkinson and Cole Prince also scored for the Storm. Colton Thibault and Tyler Bolduc had the Knights' other goals.

Knights goaltender Zack Dueck made 25 saves.

On Saturday night, Jacky Lu scored at 2:31 of overtime as the Storm beat the Eagles. One night earlier, the Eagles had beaten the Storm 2-1 in Kamloops.

In Sicamous, the teams played through two scoreless periods before Fortems put the Storm out front at 9:53 of the third period. The Eagles forced OT when Connor Fynn scored just 34 seconds later.

The Storm was 0-for-9 on the power play, while thme Eagles were 0-for-7.

Eagles goaltender Jack Surgenor turned aside 27 shots.

The Storm is back in Sicamous on Friday night, before coming home to face the Castlegar Rebels on Saturday and the Knights on Sunday. They'll play at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
