Kamloops RCMP hopes to raise $75,000 in Thursday's jail-and-bail fundraiser for the United Way.
"We're excited about this partnership," Supt. Yves Lacasse told reporters Wednesday. "We've had incredible support."
Officers will arrest some 80 community leaders throughout the day and put them in a make-shift jail built by Rona at the Tournament Capital Centre. Donations to the United Way bail them out.

"This is money that is really needed in our community," Lacasse said. "We don't have to go outside Kamloops to find people who really need our help."
The United Way has set an overall goal this year of $2 million. While that goal may seem ambitious, United Way executive director Brenda Aynsley noted that the organization has been able to raise it every year.
"Those dollars are going to stay in Kamloops."
