City Briefs: Immigrant society celebrates new location

Kamloops Immigrant Services opens in its new location on Friday amid an array of ethnic foods provided by local restaurants. All are welcome to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. but the celebration at 448 Tranquille Rd. continues until 2 p.m. The society now owns its own building and has completed renovations on the main floor while it continues to work on fixing up the lower level. Call 778-470-6101 for more information.

Museum is rockin’ Saturday

As if the Santa Claus parade wasn’t enough Saturday morning, the fun at the Kamloops Museum continues into the afternoon with Ask A Geologist Day. From 1 to 3:30 p.m., members of the Kamloops Exploration Group will be on hand to identify whatever the kids can bring in to throw at them — as long as it’s rock related. There will also be hands-on mining and geology activities, displays and tours of the museum’s three floors. The museum is at 207 Seymour St.
