The jail-and-bail event held last week for the United Way raised more than $91,000 — almost doubling last year's total of $47,000, Kamloops RCMP said Wednesday.
RCMP officers made mock arrests of 84 community leaders, who were required to make phone calls to raise $500 to secure their release from a makeshift jail at the Tournament Capital Centre.
Const. Chris Boulton — an officer who was jailed — raised $1,500 in the RCMP-organized event.
