Donate anonymously to avoid solicitation

Tracy Gilchrist wrote a good column a week or so ago about sending donations to charities and then being solicited for more money.

When I decide to contribute, I buy a money order payable to the charity but I do not put my name on it and I also do not put a return address on my envelope.

This way I contribute, but am not solicited. I know this is not the solution for everyone, as the donation is not a tax deduction, but it works for me.
