Coroner identifies woman killed while crossing street

Valerie Brook has been identified as the woman killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing at Victoria and Sixth Avenue Wednesday night.

The B.C. Coroners Service released Brook’s name Friday. She was 67 years old.

Brook died of the injuries she suffered shortly after she arrived by ambulance at Royal Inland Hospital, regional coroner Larry Marzinzik said in a press release Friday.

RCMP and the coroners service are still investigating the death. The driver of the vehicle involved was prohibited from driving.

Marzinzik said Brook’s family has been notified and asked that they be given privacy.
