Police consider alcohol to be factor in a minivan rollover on the Coquihalla Highway near Inks Lake that resulted in injuries to three men.
The van was demolished Sunday evening as it skidded off the road, hit an embankment and rolled just north of the Inks Lake brake check station at about 8 p.m.
The 24-year-old driver of the 2003 Dodge is from Prince Rupert and a 26-year-old front-seat passenger (the van's owner) is from Courtenay. They both were trapped inside and suffered serious injuries.
Police have not determined the identity of passenger in the back seat, who was ejected from the vehicle. He is in critical condition.
Motorists reported seeing debris scattered over the roadway, including the vehicle's engine.
RCMP are seeking a warrant to take a blood sample from the driver.
