Non-profit groups in Kamloops have less than two weeks to sign up for a helping hand from Thompson Rivers University students.

For the last nine years, TRU business students, many in their final year of study, have offered their services for community-based projects.

They’ve amassed a litany of praise for their knowledge of marketing, strategic planning and human resource management.

“I was totally impressed with the final outcome,” Jaime Wenselaers of The Open Door Group. “I have to say, not only was their report amazing but they were very professional throughout.”

Richard Roy, assistant professor in TRU’s School of Business and Economics describes the activity as a win-win situation.

The students get hands on experience while the clients get support around the latest best practices in strategic planning, marketing, hiring, training and retaining employees and volunteers.

The class is looking for non-profit organizations including long-term care facilities that want help. Projects would start in January and wind up in April.

The deadline for applications is Dec. 15.
