The Sa-Hali Sabres senior boys team was third in the 12-team Chilliwack Secondary basketball tournament on the weekend.
The AA Sabres opened with a 52-45 victory over the Surrey-L.A. Matheson Mustangs (AAA). Dima Pokhylov led the Sabres with 11 points, while Austin Langill had 10 points to go along with seven rebounds. Russell Dolson had nine points and eight rebounds.
In their second game, the Sabres battled back from a 20-point second-half deficit to get within a point with two minutes to play, but lost 80-72 to the White Rock-Semiahmoo Totems (AAA), in a semifinal game. Noah Marchand had 28 points for the Sabres with Liam Epp chipping in 10.
In the third-place game, the Sabres beat the host Chilliwack Secondary Storm (AAA), 88-61. Marchand led the way with 15 points. Liam Epp added 12, while Thomas Dolson had 11 points and six rebounds. Keegan
Marchand, who had six rebounds, and Adam Phillips each had nine points. Jagdeesh Uppal added eight points.
Noah Marchand was named to the first all-star team, while younger brother Keegan was named to the second team.
The Sabres’ next tournament is the Fulton Cup, Dec. 19-21 at the TCC and TRU gymnasiums.

Cassandra Labermeyer of the Valleyview Skating Club came home with gold and bronze medals as she and seven teammates took part in the Cariboots ’n Blades competition in Williams Lake on the weekend.
Labermeyer was first in Bronze Interpretive and won bronze in Senior Bronze Freeskate.
Holly Neufeld earned bronze in Bronze Interpretive, while Kirsty Newbury was fourth in Bronze Interpretive and fourth in Star 4 Freeskate. Lauren Mark skated to bronze in Star 3 Freeskate and was fifth in Introductory Interpretive.
Jana DeJong won bronze in Star 3 Freeskate and gold in Introductory Interpretive, and Mackenzie Sewell earned silver in Star 3 Freeskate and in Introductory Interpretive.
In Star 2 Freeskate, Brenna Wassing skated to silver, with Alyssa Davis getting bronze.
