Multiple accidents keep emergency crews busy

Emergency crews were kept busy with at least a dozen accidents throughout the day Saturday, including one that closed Rose Hill Road for a short period of time.

A black, northbound car left the road and slid down a 10-metre embankment. Kamloops Fire and Rescue assistant chief Jeff Bell said firefighters had to free the two female occupants from the vehicle.

The women were taken to Royal Inland Hospital for examination, he said. A spectator who claimed to be a relative of the two women didn't believe they were badly hurt.

Vehicles were prevented from driving by the scene while emergency crews tended to the patients and loaded them into an ambulance. The northbound lane was closed for an hour.

Bell said crews were dispatched to seven or eight accidents within the city Saturday afternoon and a handful on the Coquihalla Highway. To the best of his knowledge, none of the injuries were life threatening.
