Owner of stolen skis helps police with recovery

Police are giving credit to the owner of an expensive set of skis who played a part in their recovery after they were stolen at Sun Peaks.

The telemark skis, valued at $1,500, were stolen on Dec. 23 from the Cahilty Lodge, Kamloops RCMP said.

They were later found for sale in Kijiji ads out of Kelowna and Kamloops. The owner was able to identify the skis through markings on them.

Kelowna police conducted a buy at a Kelowna parking lot and detained the man who was selling them.

Charges of possession of property obtained by crime are pending against a 30-year-old Kamloops man.

Police are reminding skiers that stolen equipment has a better change of being recovered if it is properly marked.
