Highway 5A crash one of several

    Murray Mitchell

Joe Alpino gathers personal belongings from his truck with assistance from a firefighter. Alpino steered to the side of the road to avoid a collision in front of him. His truck wheels grabbed the hillside and flipped the truck on it roof. "Thank God for seatbelts," said Alpino, escaping injury with his two daughters.

No serious injuries were reported among the “numerous” accidents emergency crews responded too during and after a snowstorm Friday morning.

RCMP Const. Bernie Ward said many of the incidents involved fender benders caused by motorists driving too fast. Many more vehicles slid off roads and into ditches.

Kamloops Fire and Rescue assistant chief Les Noel said a reported five-car pile up on Highway 5A turned out to be two separate accidents. One involved three vehicles, the other two.
