Attempted break-in foiled

Two masked men who tried to break into a motel suite on Columbia Street early Sunday morning were caught before they could get away.

At 3:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP received a call stating the men were trying to break into a room in the 500 block of Columbia Street.

Police arrived in time to stop a vehicle as it was pulling away from the area. Three men in the car were held as a search produced numerous stolen items, according to an RCMP press release.

Two of the men also fit the suspect description provided earlier to police.

All three were arrested and held to appear before a judge.

RCMP did not disclose which business was involved and staff at all three motels on the stretch of road said they knew nothing about the incident.
