A total of 275,424 travellers used the Kamloops Airport in 2012 — up 4.4 per cent from the year before.
December 2012 saw the highest ever number of travellers at the airport, increasing from 24,896 in December 2011 to 26,087 last year — a boost of 4.6 per cent.
"Good value air fares combined with a generally positive economic outlook encouraged more people to travel. Leisure travel now accounts for 60 per cent of the travellers and this is attributable to the work that both Tourism Kamloops and Tourism Sun Peaks does to promote the area," airport manager Fred Legace said.
The addition of the Canadian Flight Centre flight school contributed in large part to an increase in traffic over the year.
