The driver of a pickup truck has been issued a ticket after clipping a pedestrian with his sideview mirror in the Costco parking lot on Thursday afternoon, Kamloops RCMP said Friday.
The 67-year-old man suffered a cut to the head and complained of neck and chest pains after he was hit at about 4 p.m.
He was taken to hospital, where it was confirmed that he had not suffered any serious injuries.
The accident happened when a 53-year-old Kamloops man was about to turn left in his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. As he started to turn, the mirror assembly on the left side of the truck hit the pedestrian.
"The investigator noted the left driver's mirror had been completely sheered from the vehicle," Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said.
The driver told police that the pedestrian suddenly came into view, and the pedestrian said he didn't see the truck until it hit him.
"Police are again reminding pedestrians and drivers to be vigilant as they manoeuvre in any area where there is a risk of pedestrian and vehicle collision," Learned said.
