Man keeps driving while prohibited even after fatal accident

He was allegedly driving while prohibited when he struck and killed a pedestrian in November, and now he has been caught driving while prohibited again, Kamloops RCMP said Friday.

The 62-year-old Kamloops man was allegedly behind the wheel when his Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a 66-year-old woman crossing Victoria Street at Sixth Avenue on Nov. 21.

Police received a report recently that the man had driving to the casino in the 500 block of Victoria, and found his truck in the parking lot. An officer spotted the vehicle being driven at about 12:15 a.m. and stopped it.

The pickup has been impounded for seven days and the driver faces another charge of driving while prohibited, police said.

He has a history of similar driving offences, and was at the time prohibited from driving a motor vehicle anywhere in Canada until Nov. 2, 2014.
