Police put two and two together when they stopped a couple hauling a snowmobile they believed to be stolen.
The pair claimed to have bought it, but the man involved was the same one who had been caught earlier trying to sell stolen skis.
"The suspect did not want to comment on the similarities of his sale of stolen skis via kijiji the week earlier, the sale of a stolen snow machine today and the use of stolen licence plates on his vehicle," Kamloops RCMP said in a press release.
The snowmobile — a Skidoo Summit XP valued at $7,000 — was taken on Jan. 3 from Sun Peaks. A man from Surrey went out snowmobiling on another machine and returned to discover his Skidoo and its trailer were gone.
He later found it offered for sale on kijiji, informed police, and arranged to meet with the thief with the idea of buying it.
A 30-year-old man from Kamloops faces charges in Kootenay provincial in the matter.
