According to statistics, a staggering 80 per cent of children’s car seats or booster seats are installed incorrectly.
To ensure children ride safely in Kamloops vehicles, the City is holding a drop-in car-seat safety check on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC).
Jennifer Harbaruk, a certified child passenger safety educator, will conduct the checks, teaching parents the key points of car-seat safety. Parents will receive instruction and hands-on installation and techniques.
The TCC is also offering a free Mother Goose swim from 3 to 4:30 p.m. so the youngster can swim while parents get their car seat checked.
Donations will be accepted, with proceeds going to Literacy in Kamloops. For more information, visit www.literacyinkamloops.com.
