Are drunk stats accurate in B.C.?

At first blush it would seem alarming that recent statistics show an increase in the number of drunk drivers, both here and in the province as a whole.

However, nowhere in all this have I seen the new 0.05 (blood-alcohol) threshold mentioned, as opposed to the former 0.08.

With this new lower standard as the basis upon which we now measure impairment, do not the statistics now require an asterisk for the province of B.C.?

I do not apologize for the drivers who  flout the law. However, it seems to me that statistics can be used for whatever end the writer wants. In this case, it seems they are skewed somewhat.

As for MADD and its unconstitutional call for random testing, I applaud their message, but certainly not the method.
