Thank you Donna Mason for your comments (Do We Need To Sell Guns To Colombia, The Daily News, Jan. 12)regarding the sale of guns to Colombia. The federal minister involved in this sale has now said Canada isn’t selling guns, just armored vehicles. In my mind, that is still providing Colombia with military equipment.

There was a time when Canada was seen around the world as a peacekeeping nation. I was proud to be Canadian. Now we are providing military equipment to Colombia, aiding and abetting their continued violence. We participate in war, we destroy the environment for the future of our children and grandchildren and
provide an arena where poverty and homelessness grows, basically putting the almighty dollar above the well-being of people. And if that wasn’t bad enough we continue to disregard the promises we made to First Nations people by way of treaties.

Still glad to be Canadian. But proud? Not so much. Thank you political leaders for changing the face of Canada. Not. I will continue to pray for the enlightenment and sensitivity of our leaders in their decision-making process.
