Once a cadet, always a cadet, Black Marias find out

A couple of former air cadets from decades ago are helping to support another generation.

Bill Mitchell, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion 52, presented a cheque to the 204 Black Maria Air Cadets last week, while Tom Sugden and Wayne Sabo from the Elks Lodge 44 handed over a $250 donation to the group.

The money will go toward the squadron’s activities, promised Black Maria commanding officer Rod Totten.

Sugden was a Black Maria Air Cadet from the days when the squadron met at the Kamloops Airport, while Mitchell is a retired captain from the Rocky Mountain Rangers and a former air cadet from the 147 squadron in Chilliwack. He is now the legion’s cadet liaison officer.
