Crews with KGHM-Ajax have been slightly delayed by snowfall in conducting advanced exploration at the site of its mining claims.
KGHM spokesman Norm Thompson said Wednesday new exploration work by the 10-person crew began Jan. 10.
Workers are conducting an induced polarization study to better determine the ore body. The survey, which uses electrical current, is expected to be complete this winter.
Thompson said snowfall has caused some delays for crews.
The company is in the midst of a harmonized federal-provincial comprehensive environmental assessment.
It wants to develop an open-pit copper-gold mine at the site of the historic Ajax pit and within city boundaries.
