Home invasion on Kemano likely targeted, police say

Four people wearing masks broke into a home in the 1000 block of Kemano Street in North Kamloops at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday in what is believed to be a targeted attack, Kamloops RCMP said.

A man suffered head injuries in the altercation that ensued and was taken to hospital for treatment. He was punched in the head several times, but is expected to make a full recovery.

During the fracas, the mask worn by a female suspect came off, police said.

The four used "sharp edged weapons" and bear spray in the attack. Several household items were stolen, including a gaming system, movies, a purse and contents, a wallet, cash and identification.

The house is shared by four adults — two women, 18 and 20, and two men, 26 and 36.

"Police are confident that some of the suspects are known to the victims and that the incident stems from a previous disagreement between known individuals," Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said.

The suspects fled the scene in an older, small-sized black car. Police set up a perimeter but were not able to make an arrest.

Officers are following up on "solid leads," Learned said.
