Respectfully, Joey — a personal belief in a God of one’s own beliefs is not always religion's take on the subject and every Canadian has a right to personalize it, if they choose. Some organized religions are well known to have conflict amongst each other, but that can be some of our organized religions for you.
A spiritual belief in a higher power than yourself that you personally choose to call God is your business (and right) in Canada, and there's nothing religious about that decision or requiring an organized religions viewpoints, getting involved and/or required.
Regarding Burton, there are a great many well-known Canadian singers that would sing the Canadian National Anthem correctly, word for word.
The words are:
Oh Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, the True North strong and free! From far and wide, Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee. Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
In my opinion, most professional singers would sing it correctly and with no personal bias being shown, one way or the other. So, in your Joey Jack wording chosen and I will repeat them: who is now reading from that stated Bronze Age book of yours?
God bless us all, Joey.
