I find it difficult to ignore the vitriolic rantings of another; "guns do not kill, they are my best friends" letter.

The New York Times featured a report in Monday's edition that five people had been shot at gun shows in the States on Saturday. Apparently all the shootings were accidental, and at the hands of gun owners who presumably know how to safely handle their weapons.

Fortunately none of the shootings were fatal, but none were with automatic weapons. We are told that one Canadian in five suffers from a mental illness perhaps it would be prudent to ban all private ownership of automatic weapons, continue with the gun registry, prevent the 20% from owning any type of gun until deemed medically responsible.
