The Kamloops Storm is on its first three-game winning streak since October, and is one victory from clinching a KIJHL playoff spot.

The Storm beat the Chase Heat 5-0 at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre on Saturday. Kamloops now has won three straight games after losing 19 of its previous 20.

Saturday’s result left the Storm (16-24-2-4) 15 points up on the Heat (9-30-3-2), which has eight games remaining in the regular season.

Kamloops occupies the final playoff spot in the Doug Birks Division.

The earliest Kamloops can lock up the playoff spot is Friday, when it heads to Kelowna to play the Chiefs. A victory there — or a Chase loss to the North Okanagan Knights in Armstrong on Friday — will get Kamloops into the playoffs.

Kamloops is to play host to the Princeton Posse on Saturday, 7 p.m., at the Sport Centre. The Heat will welcome the Revelstoke Grizzlies to the Art Holding Memorial Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Wade Moyls posted the shutout on Saturday, stopping 31 shots. Tyler Fyfe, a 15-year-old from Cloverdale, scored two goals, with Blake Culbert, Jared Anderson and Connor Fortems also scoring.
Cole Prince and Daniel Buchanan each had two assists.

Jacob Mattes stopped 41 shots for the Heat.
