Novice Thunder rolls past Rockets

Jarrod Semchuk had two goals and two assists as the 7 Point Millworks Ice Hawks slipped past Kelowna 5-4 in a league game Saturday.

Harjun Serown also scored twice for the winners, and Luke Bateman singled. Ashton Taylor dished two assists, and Jared Sucro and Kimberley Davidson split the goaltending.

Bailey Monteith stood tall in net as the Scotiabank Bandits outlasted the Kelowna Legends 2-1 in OMAHA action Sunday in Kelowna.

Reed Watson and Aidan Sutter scored to lift the Bandits to victory, and Trey Dergousoff earned the hardest-working player hardhat.

It was a good way to finish the weekend, after the Bandits had dropped a pair of games in Kamloops on Saturday. First, the Bandits fell 8-3 to the Arbutus Avalanche in exhibition play at the Ice Box Arena. Sutter, Brendan Hunchak and hardhat winner Tyson Galloway scored for the home side, and Monteith and Zach Kohorst shared the goaltending loss.

Then, the Bandits were edged 5-3 by the Merritt Centennials in an OMAHA game at Valleyview Arena. Dergousoff, Galloway and hardhat winner Hunchak scored in support of netminder Kohorst.

The Bandits will play two OMAHA games next weekend in Kamloops. First, the Bandits will meet local rivals 7 Points Millworks, on Saturday, 12:15 p.m., at Memorial Arena. On Sunday, the Bandits take on the Vernon Venom, 3:45 p.m., at McArthur Island's Olympic arena.

The Western Roofing Nailers' winning streak continued with a pair of weekend victories.

Logan Stankoven had a goal and two assists as the Nailers beat the Kelowna Hawks 4-2 on Saturday. Jacob Proulx scored twice, with Brendan Kirschner scoring once in support of goaltenders Adam Niles and Austin Krug. Harrison Ewert had two assists.

The Nailers went on to defeat Arbutus 7-4 in an exhibition game. Again, Niles and Krug shared the net.

Stankoven had two more goals and three more assists, with Proulx getting a goal and three helpers. Sheldon Gerlib, Ewert, Carson Evoy and Matthew Mariona each chipped in with a goal.

The Timbits Thunder rolled past the Timbits Rockets 6-4 in Novice Orange action Saturday at Brock Arena.

Carter Noble and Nolan Viesner each scored twice for the Thunder, and Lian Gayfer and Levi Costigan each singled in support of winning goaltender Cash Minion.

Kieran Maloney, Jake Poulsen, Max Smith and Ryan Larsen scored for the Rockets, who went with David Browning in net. Maloney earned the hardest-working player hardhat, while Kaden Linquist was awarded the coach's game puck.

Sam Zulyniak had three goals as the Ice Sharks played to a 4-4 draw with the Flyers.

Jose Hanneter also scored for the Ice Sharks.

Landon McGillis, with two, Liam Grover and Frankie Padar scored for the Flyers. Justin Demaere was the Flyers' goaltender.

Kobe Pavlovich and Braidon Clark each scored twice as the Sandman Junior Blazers skated to a 6-6 draw with the Hurricanes on Saturday. Pavlovich was named his team's MVP.

Brady Pawlachuk had two assists and Joey Stankevich and Luken Murray also scored in support of Blazers goaltender Bhavin Serown.

Elias Newport had two goals and Eric Crawford had a goal and two assists for the Hurricanes, who also got goals from Will Davis-Arnold, Dakota Reid and Joshua Rankin. Ryerson Palmer was in goal for the 'Canes.

Liam Campbell had five goals as the Warriors and Oilers tied 6-6 on Saturday.

Jacob Haines also scored in support of Warriors goaltender Joey McKinnon, and Nick Kuhlmann had two helpers.

Kaedyn Bert, with three, Cameron Ryles, with two, and Liam Edstrom scored for the Oilers, who had Tye Kitamura in goal.

Ethan Diconstanzo had four goals and Elessio Louvros struck for three as the Snipers got past the Legends, 11-7.

Ethan Gremaud, with two, Dav Dey and Brady McCuthern also scored for the Snipers, who had Matthew Yon in goal. Brock Heshka had two assists.

Tyler Fernie, with three, Millan Webster, Kila Pigeon, Michael Dagasso and Colton Woitas scored for the Legends, who went with Bryton Neufeld between the pipes.

Ethan Schanzenbach and Dexter Williams each scored twice as the Ice Kings edged the Thunder 6-5.

Mitchell Coxon was the winning goaltender, and Austin Burke and Zach Teale also scored.

Zac Banks had three goals for the Thunder, which had Nolan Austin in goal, and Kiel Schriml and Hunter Coleman also scored.

Sam Fawcett had the shutout as the Roughnecks blanked the Assassins 10-0 on Saturday.

Domenico Comita had three goals, and Kyle Proulx and Ben Anderson each scored twice. Delwyn Neveu, Maxwell Hinkson and Colby Cooper rounded out the scoring for the Roughnecks.

A

Adam Struch scored two goals as the host North Kamloops Lions beat the Kelowna's Pursuit of Excellence 4-3 on Saturday.

Colten Moore and Steven Rintoul also scored in support of goaltender Riley Woodland.

The Lions are getting ready for playoffs next month.

A

A pair of weekend victories have the North Kamloops Lions flying high on the eve of the playoffs.

The Lions, who finished second in OMAHA, beat Merritt 10-2 on Friday. Haden Nordick had three goals and Corson Nordick had a goal and three helpers.

Eric Bertuzzi, with two, Lane Grunerud, Brandon Gremaud, Hunter Dairon and Brendan Mucha had the other goals. Taylor Kaban was the winning goaltender.

Ben Ward and Adam Harrison each scored twice as the Lions topped Salmon Arm 8-3 on Saturday. Gremaud, Corson Nordick, Mucha and Reegan Toombes also scored in support of goaltender Nathan Nesci.

Pierce Huser had six goals and two assists as the Shoppers Drug Mart Rockets beat the Surplus Herby's Bolts 12-2.

Pacific Thompson also had four goals in the victory.

The Zimmer Auto Group Jets were 1-3 at a tournament in Osoyoos.

The Jets opened with a 3-2 loss to Summerland. Austin Morphy and Slater Gordon had the goals, and James Lamb was in goal.

Morphy and Santana Casmir scored in Kamloops' second game, a 4-2 loss to Nelson. Emma Gottfriedson got the start in the Kamloops goal.

Lamb earned the shutout as Kamloops beat Semiahmoo 5-0. Karn Mahal had two goals, with Gordon, Brandon Frenks and Morphy singling.

The good vibes ran out in a 6-1 loss to Kelowna in a consolation game. Gordon had the goal and Gottfriedson took the loss in goal.

Emma Knight put two goals into the empty net as the Kamloops Thunder defeated Thompson Cariboo 6-3 at Valleyview Arena on Sunday.

Kelly Kosolofksi had a goal in each of the first two periods, and Knight and Charlotte Hutchison each scored a first-period goal. Gaby Palson-Chamberlain had two assists, and Haley Russell was the winning goaltender.

Monika Paules had all three goals for Thompson Cariboo, with Ali Aie assisting on two of them.

Alex Harpauer had the shutout as the Aliens defeated the Crusaders 8-0 on Sunday.

Kala Stone, Monica Maher and Chanel Krusel each scored twice in the victory, and Sara Chrystal and Sydney Harris also scored.

Dirty Brian and the Boys ruled a tournament in Williams Lake, and came home with gold medals.

The Boys set the tone early, beating Williams Lake Teal 9-1. Game MVP Tyson Johnston had two goals and three assists, and Riley Polacik and Brenden Ruttan each scored twice.

Dylan O'Grady, Seven Scheifele and Brian Rockvam also scored, and Josh Campbell and Trent Taylor came through with two assists apiece. Jake Birkland was the winning goaltender.

Kamloops played to a 1-1 draw with Williams Lake Orange, with MVP D.J. Lapierre in goal. Rockvam scored the goal.

Taylor had a goal and was the MVP in the Boys' next game, a 5-1 victory over Williams Lake Blue. Lapierre was in goal, and Darion Nordick, Polacik, Bryce Paul and Dylan O'Grady also scored.

The results were good enough to put Kamloops into the final against the Williams Lake Grey Wolves.

Birkland shut the door in a 2-1 victory, and was named MVP. Campbell and Polacik, with the winner, had the goals.

The Royal Purple Mystix dropped its final two games of the regular season.

Kamloops lost 3-1 to Salmon Arm. Keisha Johnson scored, and Sydney Carter was in goal.

The Mystix went on to lose 5-0 to the Kamloops midgets. Ashlynn Neurauter took the loss in goal.

The Thompson Blazers split a home-and-home series with the Okanagan Rockets, winning 4-2 in Chase on Sunday after dropping a 5-2 decision in Kelowna on Saturday.

Nick Chyzowski scored twice in the victory, with Riley Jepson and Dustin Wall adding a goal and two assists each. Goaltender Griffin Baillie stopped 27 shots.

Chyzowski also scored twice on Saturday, getting both goals on the power play. Baillie stopped 37 shots.

The Blazers next play at home on Feb. 9 and 10 against the Cariboo Cougars. They'll play the series opener at McArthur Island, 8 p.m., and the second game at Interior Savings Centre, 10 a.m.

Garrett Miller scored three times, Ryan Anderson had two goals and C.J. Ferguson and Derek Panter singled as the Rampage defeated the Raiders 7-4.

Deegan Ludwig-Konrad had two helpers in support of winning goaltender Birch Mierau.

Josh Olynyk, Ben Pearse, Tyson Dmyterko and Dakota Hofmann scored for the Raiders, who had Victor Church in goal.

Graydon Baker and Aidan Kennedy each scored three goals as the Thunderbirds beat the Mini-Blazers 10-1 on Sunday.

Jordan DeVries and Jordan Pringle each scored twice in the victory. Keaton Dell had the Mini-Blazers' goal.

The Vikings lost in a semifinal at a tournament in Armstrong.

The Vikings opened with a 2-1 loss to North Okanagan. Alex Wright had the goal for the Vikings, who went with Xavier Cannon in goal.

Cannon stood tall as the Vikings blasted Winfield 6-1 in their next game. Cole Standen had four goals, and Connor Humphrey and Kyllan Thibault also scored.

The Vikings got two goals from Wright and singles from Standen and Dylan Dudley in a 4-1 victory over Kelowna. Cannon was the winning goaltender.

In its semifinal, Kamloops fell 4-1 to North Okanagan. Joshua Dimaulo had the Vikings' goal.

Andrew Warner had two goals to lead the Steelheads to a 4-1 victory over the Honeybadgers.

Ethan Crawford added a goal and two assists, and Summit Krause-Love shut the door in goal. Ethan Smith also scored for the Steelheads.

Devon Tournour scored for the Honeybadgers, who had Nathan Sandulescu in goal.

The Jardine's Blazers enjoyed a nearly perfect road trip to Vancouver Island.

Kamloops beat Victoria Racquet Club 4-2, Juan de Fuca 6-1, Cowichan Valley 14-0 and tied the Racquet Club 4-4.

Sydney Carter had a pair of shutouts as the Mystixs won two of three weekend games.

Carter was in goal for a 5-0 victory over Kamloops' bantam A team. Jordan Finnie, with two, Olivia Merritt, Chloe Johnson and Sydney Gordon scored the goals, and Shelby Danielle and Marcella Mondin each had two assists.

Carter had another goose-egg in a 5-0 victory over the Prince George Cougars. Finnie had two more goals, Brianne McCaffrey also scored twice and Danielle scored once.

Melissa Brunn had three assists and Larissa Kolle had two helpers.

The Cougars came back to win the rematch, 3-1. Danielle scored.
