A drug dealer and enforcer already serving time for obstruction of justice will spend seven more months in jail after he was nabbed by RCMP this summer with cocaine, heroin and thousands in cash.
Trevor Taylor also faces the prospect of a trial in April on a charge of confinement. He also is charged with assault on another file.
He pleaded guilty Wednesday in B.C. Supreme Court to two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one for heroin and the other for cocaine.
Crown prosecutor Anthony Varesi said Taylor was spotted near NorKam secondary in July last year by an RCMP member driving an unmarked car. He was on court-ordered conditions, including that he not possess a cellphone.
Taylor walked away from the Mountie, across the NorKam schoolyard, dropping a cellphone and a bag.
The phone was retrieved, along with the bag. It contained cocaine valued at $3,000 and heroin worth an estimated $2,200. Taylor was also carrying $2,500 in cash.
“The cellphone rang a number of times at the detachment,” Varesi noted.
Justice Dev Dley sentenced Taylor to seven months of new jail time, on top of four months he’s already spent in custody.
Defence lawyer Jeremy Jensen said Taylor is from the “school of hard knocks.” He doesn’t know his father and his mother was a drug addict.
“Mr. Taylor basically had to raise himself,” Jensen said, adding his client has drug problems but eventually wants to go into trades training.
In November he pleaded guilty to threatening witnesses scheduled to appear at the trial of his associate from the drug trade.
