The impact at the Kamloops Sears store is likely to be minimal as the national retailer announced it was laying off 700 workers across the country.
The bulk of the layoffs will be from a distribution centre in Belleville, Ont., which will lose 120 jobs, and a distribution centre in Regina, which will shed 80 jobs.
Distribution centres in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver will also be hit.
Jobs losses at retail operations will be in the range of two to four people per store.
Sears announced in December that it was closing four stores in three cities — Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa.
