    City Briefs: Liberal candidate visits Friday

    B.C. MP Joyce Murray, one of nine candidates seeking the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada, visits Kamloops on Friday. Murray will attend an event at 5:30 p.m. at Ploughman’s Lunch, 152 Victoria St., the local Liberal riding association confirmed. Murray, who represents the riding of Vancouver-Quadra, is advocating a one-time collaboration between centre-left parties in order to defeat the Conservatives in 2015.

    New webcams active on Highway 1

    Two new DriveBC webcams are active on the East TransCanada Highway between Monte Creek and Pritchard. The views east and west enable motorists planning to travel to and from Kamloops to check online for current road and weather conditions. Launched in 2005, DriveBC is the government’s most popular website with 2.9 million visits a month.

    Pink Shirt Day turns six

    London Drugs continues its support of the anti-bullying Pink Shirt Day campaign with shirts available at all store locations. In its sixth year, CKNW’s Pink Shirt Day raises awareness against bullying and encourages everyone to wear a pink shirt on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The shirts are sold for $9.80 and proceeds support Boys and Girls Clubs across Western Canada.
