The City of Kamloops has issued a statement supporting $500 fines for four young men who hauled pallets to Noble Creek that were later set on fire.
The blaze at a grad party caused a grassfire that cost the City $65,000 to put out.
"The City of Kamloops is pleased with the outcome and felt that a clear message was sent to the public that this type of behaviour will not be accepted in our community."
An investigation by Kamloops Fire Rescue, Kamloops RCMP and Kamloops Bylaw Services has yet to track down the people who set the fire.
"The City of Kamloops wants to reassure the citizens of Kamloops that we will continue to investigate all such matters and will hold the individuals responsible for their careless actions."
In addition to tickets of between $500 and $2,000, consequences include civil litigation and criminal charges.
