Kamloops teens get chance to spend summer in Quebec

Kamloops teens are invited to expand their horizons this summer through the YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange Program.

Okanagan program co-ordinator Rebecca Purdy is choosing 10 Kamloops kids aged 16 and 17 to switch places with peers from Quebec for six weeks.

“It really is an amazing program,” said Purdy. “Students gain great work experience, develop their second language skills, as well as grow and develop as a person, and often become more confident individuals ready for the next big steps in life.”

Also contributing to the program within participating communities are exchange hosts, employers, summer staff and the community at large.
