Liberals have answers to film trouble

As a longtime member of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees, I believe the move from HST back to the PST has negatively affected our industry because that seven per cent is no longer claimable by the industry as it was under the HST.

These incremental shifts are not liked by the studios that depend on a stable tax-credit system in order to budget their projects. What we require is leadership on this issue and I believe the B.C. Liberal government can and will deliver on this. Although Mr. Adrian Dix has made a great splash by meeting with studio executives, he only found out what we already knew. I believe that Minister for Cultural Development Bill Bennett will realize that this is an industry worth keeping without giving away the farm.
