Corryn Brown’s Kamloops rink is into the championship round at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian junior curling championships in Fort McMurray.
Brown, third Erin Pincott, second Samantha Fisher and lead Sydney Fraser beat Nunavut’s Sadie Pinksen 24-1 on Tuesday to finish the round-robin 5-1, good for first in Pool A. The Kamloops rink is into the eight-rink championship pool, where it will play four more games.
Brown and Co. now have won four straight at the championships, which features 14 boys and 14 girls teams. They had no trouble with the winless Pinksen, stealing three in the first end, five in the second and two more in the third.
The Brown rink still doesn’t know its schedule for the championship pool, as each round-robin pool will require tiebreakers to determine its top-four. The first tiebreakers were scheduled for last night — results weren’t available at press time — with more tiebreakers to run this morning.
Brown will play four games over the next three days, with potential championship pool tiebreakers scheduled for Friday night.
The top team after the championship pool (the results include the round-robin pool) will go straight to Sunday’s final, with the second and third finishers to meet in the Sunday semifinal.
