Camryn Morris scored 15 points as the South Kamloops Titans defeated the Merritt Panthers 70-10 in a Grade 8 girls basketball game Wednesday.

Ally Lincoln also scored 10 points for the Titans, and Keisha Whalen added seven.

The Titans are scheduled to play in a Brocklehurst tournament this weekend — they will play at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., on Friday.

Emma Wolfram had 22 points to lead the South Kamloops Titans to a 77-27 victory over the NorKam Saints in a senior girls AAA basketball game Tuesday.

The Titans are 7-0; NorKam is 0-7.

Kanesha Reeves also scored 17 points for the Titans, who lead 30-13 at the half. Rachel Cantin had 11 points to lead the Saints.

NorKam is scheduled to play host to the Salmon Arm Jewels on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, in boys action, Reid Sellars scored 20 second-half points as the Titans defeated the Saints 60-47.

Jacob Adams almost had a triple-double in the victory, scoring 12 points, grabbing 20 rebounds and dishing eight assists. Tye Desrosiers also scored 11 points for South Kam.

The Titans are scheduled to play the Rutland Voodoos in Kelowna on the weekend.

Taylor Kaban had the shutout as the North Kamloops Lions beat Merritt 5-0 on Tuesday in the deciding game of a best-of-three peewee Tier 3 playoff hockey series.

The Lions advance to the second round. A schedule hasn’t been announced, but it’s likely that the first two games will be Saturday and Sunday.

Ben Ward had two goals in the victory, and Brandon Gremaud, Haden Nordick and Nathan Thiessen also scored goals. Brendan Mucha helped out with two assists.

Eight Kamloops Long Blades speed skaters are scheduled to head to Winnipeg for the Canadian Age Class long track championships on the weekend.

This is the most skaters the Long Blades have sent to nationals. They qualified during the provincial championships in Fort St. John at the end of the month.

Three of the skaters are competing in T2T 12 — Holly Antifay, Dana Coulter and Alexander Demishkevich — while Yolaine Kampman is signed up for the T2T 13 and Maria Demishkevich is in T2T 14.

Sylvie Lloyd is in the open women 15-29 division, while Kris Pynten and Dominic Villeneuve are in the open men 15-29.

Jessica Hewitt and Canada’s short track speed skating team is in Dresden, Germany, for the sixth and last World Cup event of the season.

The races will begin Friday and run through Sunday. Hewitt, who has competed in all five World Cup events this season, is signed up for a 1,000-metre race and two 1,500m events.
