What was once old will become new again Feb. 18, when Kamloops hosts its first public press conference for the B.C. Senior Games.
It will be the second time Kamloops has hosted the games, the first being in 1996.
The Games Awareness Event will recognize the event’s history in Kamloops unveiling both the 2013 and 1996 event banners. The 1996 banner was used as an inspiration for the 2013 incarnation.
Cliff Branchflower, who was mayor of Kamloops in 1996, and current mayor Peter Milobar will both be in attendance.
The games will take place Aug. 20-24, 2013. It is expected that roughly 4,000 athletes will be in attendance, which would make it the largest B.C. Senior Games ever.
The Games Awareness Event will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Tournament Capital Centre.
