The Kamloops man who killed David Holditch because he was flirting with his girlfriend is eligible for full parole just three years after the manslaughter verdict.

A spokesman for the Parole Board of Canada says 26-year-old Steven Roe has had his day parole extended and will continue living at a halfway house in Kamloops.

Patrick Storey says Roe has maintained a positive behaviour and is eligible for full parole while awaiting his statutory release date, set for Nov. 21, 2013.

There’s a chance Roe could meet the victim’s family because members still live in Kamloops, but Storey says a no-contact order is in place, requiring Roe to leave the area immediately and report the situation to a parole officer.

Roe was originally convicted of second-degree murder in 2007 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the Feb. 21, 2006 multiple stabbing of the 18-year-old gas station attendant.

Roe served about one year behind bars when a second trial was ordered which ended in the manslaughter verdict.
