High Schools: Titans perfect in league action

The South Kamloops Titans remain undefeated in Okanagan senior AAA girls basketball after knocking off the visiting Kelowna Owls 76-60 on Tuesday.

The game was the last regular-season home game for South Kam’s seniors — Maya Olynyk and Emma

Wolfram, both provincial team players and the stars of B.C.’s No. 1-ranked AAA team. School principal Cale Birk presented flowers to both girls on behalf of their teammates and coaches.

South Kamloops, which is 10-0 in league play, will play host to the Okanagan championships on Feb. 22-23, so local fans will get one more chance to see Olynyk and Wolfram play.

Wolfram had 29 points and 12 rebounds in Tuesday’s victory, while Olynyk scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished seven assists. Emily Vilac had 16 points, and Anna Frenkel ended with eight points, nine rebounds and five steals.

The Titans will finish the regular season with a pair of road games — against the Lakers in Penticton tonight and in West Kelowna against the host Mount Boucherie Bears on Friday.

The winner of the zone championship will represent the Okanagan at provincials in Langley next month.
