Dozens of employers hunt for prospects at TRU

    Job fair on March 7

University students are being advised to get prepared well ahead of the 10th annual Thompson Rivers University job fair on March 7.

About 50 employers will be attending this year's event and organizers expect about 2,000 students to attend.

The job fair is a unique opportunity to connect with prospective employers like BMO, Canfor, Interior Health and Fraser Health, the provincial government, B.C. Hydro, CN Rail and many more.

The organizations are seeking students for summer, part-time and full-time graduate positions.

“This one-day event is a wonderful opportunity for students from all disciplines to meet organizations and network, access employment opportunities and learn more about careers in health, IT, finance and banking, accounting, tourism, trades, and much more,” said Shawn Read of TRU’s career education department.

But before dropping by, attendees are encouraged to get ready by reading the dos and don’ts of job interviews and preparing a list of intelligent questions they will ask prospective employers.

Helpful tips are provided through a series of workshops starting Feb. 28 and at www.tru.ca/careereducation/events/job_fair.html.

The 10th annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 7 in the Grand Hall of the Campus Activity Centre.
