Penny rounding going the wrong way

I was at my local supermarket today and when I got home I checked the bill as I usually do and found a new category called “rounding.”

My bill which was $35.58 became $35.60. I know it sounds foolish to get worked up over (may they rest in peace) two pennies but the gall of it irks me something terrible. When you think of the hundreds of thousands of transactions they do it adds up in a hurry. By the way my savings today were 34 cents. How come they didn’t round that out to the plus side? Just wondering.
