Funding provided to help Clearwater youth get jobs

A non-profit society in Clearwater has received $47,000 from the federal government to help connect youth with jobs.

Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod announced the funding for Yellowhead Community Services on Tuesday. The money will be used to help youth overcome barriers to employment.

Participants will attend workshops to develop teamwork and computer skills. Youth will also gain hands-on experience through work placement opportunities.

The society is the largest non-profit, registered charity in the North Thompson and provides a variety of services to individuals and families from McLure to Blue River.
