A Savona man was transported by helicopter to Royal Inland Hospital at about 2:30 p.m. Friday after his pickup truck rolled into the ditch two kilometres east of Tunkwa Lake Road.
The man was driving a white truck west on the Trans-Canada Highway when he lost control, crossed the road to the left and hit the ditch, Cpl. Mike Mucha said.
It appears he tried to correct and get out of the ditch but wound up back in it, Mucha said.
The highway was reduced to single-lane alternating traffic to accommodate the helicopter and a tow truck.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but have so far ruled out alcohol as a factor, Mucha said.
Ground ambulance was dispatched to the scene at 2:07 p.m., B.C. Ambulance Service spokeswoman Catherine Bianco said. It got there in 13 minutes.
Air ambulance was dispatched at 2:17 p.m. and arrived in 10 minutes.
