A former teacher and convicted sex offender is set to plead guilty to sexual interference of a minor and be sentenced April 9.

Brett Nelson faces charges of sexual interference as well as breaching conditions of his probation order.

Defence lawyer Rob Bruneau told a B.C. Supreme Court justice Monday that Nelson will plead guilty.

In February last year, Nelson was sentenced to nine months in jail after luring young girls over the Internet for sexual purposes. Judge Hermann Rohrmoser said Nelson acted like a predator when he "sexted" two teenage girls.

Nelson was given three years of probation at the time, with terms forbidding him from having contact with young people or from being in places where they are found.

He was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Nelson was convicted of sexual exploitation in 2004 by a B.C. Supreme Court judge for engaging in a romantic, sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl who had been a student of his earlier in the year.
