Korean War veterans in Kamloops can receive recognition through nominations to MP Cathy McLeod's office.
The federal government is marking 2013 as the Year of the Korean War Veteran.
"It is our duty to pay tribute to more than 26,000 Canadian men and women in uniform who came to the aid of the South Koreans during the Korean War, and in particular the 516 Canadians who gave their lives in service to defend the values of peace and freedom on the Korean peninsula," McLeod said in a press release.
This July, Canada will mark the 60th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that led to the conclusion of combat on the Korean peninsula.
Nominations for veterans who deserve recognition can be sent to McLeod's office by phone at 250-851-4991, by email at cathy.mcleod.cl@parl.gc.ca or by mail postage-free at 979 Victoria St., Kamloops V2C 2C1.
McLeod is also encouraging businesses to make hiring veterans a priority. Government initiatives are available to ease the way, with details available at the MP's office.
