Got reno questions? Home show has answers

As the weather changes from winter to spring, some home owners start warming to the idea of fixing up their houses.

For the fourth year, the Canadian Home Builders Association Central Interior is offering a home show that’s all about construction. It’s on all day Saturday at the Kamloops Convention Centre.

Association executive director Patsy Bourassa said Friday the one-day show is aimed at people looking to build or renovate.

There are no small appliances, devices as-seen-on-TV, no booths for products that aren’t construction related.

This home show is about the big picture, the actual construction.

“The only exhibitors, 65 of them, are all directly related to home renovation,” Bourassa said.

There’s no admission fee, but there is a draw for an iPad as a door prize.

Most of the exhibitors are association members, but some other contractors will be on hand as well.

Bourassa said the show is for people who are even considering a renovation, as there will be new products on display.

And for those who have questions they need answered, free private meetings can be booked with builders or contractors. Call the association at 828-1844 to set up a time.

The Central Interior branch is the only local out of 10 in B.C. opting to hold a home show without consumer items.

The fact that it’s limited to one day makes it easier for builders and contractors to find the time to attend, she said.

The show opens at 9:30 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m.
