    Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Kamloops is a non-profit charity supporting community volunteering.

    B.C. Cowboy Heritage Society: Group needs ushers, host/hostesses and security officials for the art show, trade show and silent auctions. Volunteers must be 19 and over. Festival runs from March 7-10. Join us for a great weekend! For more information, call 250-573-3270 or 250-828-1206.

    Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament: KIBIHT is looking for volunteers for tournament from March 27 to March 31, supporting 32 teams ages 13 to 15 years old. Positions include time clock, score keeping, rink manager, and 50/50 draw attendants. Volunteers must be at least 16. The event will be at many locations throughout the city.     AIM Foundation: Looking for volunteers to help with a fundraiser on April 20 at the Yacht Club. Positions include hosts, DJ assistant, bar assistant (Serving It Right is an asset), food assistant, door attendant as well as set-up, decorating and cleanup assistants. Call 250-372-8168.

    Canadian Mental Health Association: Volunteers needed to shop for the The Clubhouse at Costco and at other grocery and craft shops. Shopping at Costco would be once a month. Please note that all mileage will be paid. If volunteers do not have a Costco membership, that will be paid for as well. For more information, call 250-374-0440.

    CNIB: Group needs driver guides, vision mates and reception assistants. For more information, call 250-763-1191 Ext: 6181.

    Overlander Residential Care: Medical appointment assistants needed. This is great experience for those thinking of getting into the medical field. Volunteers will accompany residents on HandiDART to various medical appointments, such as doctor, dentist, denturist, optometrist and hospital visits. For more information, call 250-554-5569.

    Canadian Cancer Society: Many different positions required, including volunteer engagement specialist, volunteer engagement generalist, 2013 Daffodil Campaign committee, Relay For Life – fundraising development co-chair, event development logistics, health promotion, team recruitment and event activities.     Elizabeth Fry Society: Looking volunteers to cut and/or style hair for youth with restricted resources, involved in programs to build self-esteem. For information, call 250-374-2119

    Canadian Mental Health Association: Youth Clubhouse volunteers will implement activities in a social and recreational setting while working with at-risk youth. Volunteers should be flexible, mature and possess the ability to work independently or in group settings. Must be able to funciton as a positive role model/mentor/relationship-builder with youth.     Royal Inland Hospital: School tour guide volunteers will work as a facilitator for teaching children about processes that may take place at the hospital and act as guides during the hospital visit. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be committed to guiding from October to May twice a month. Looking for a volunteer who has good presentation skills, self-motivated and reliable. Knowledge of the hospital is an asset. Volunteers must be able to work as part of a team. For information, call 250-314-2313.

    Overlander Residential Care: Volunteers are needed to assist in day and weekend recreational programs for seniors. Activities include card games, board games, Wii, one-to-one visits, attending church services (at Overlander Residential Care). Call 250-554-5569.

    Kamloops Immigrant Services: Anti-Bullying Working Group volunteers needed to organize, market and create awareness for an anti-bullying DVD. For more information, call 778-470-6101.

    AIM Foundation: Volunteer office assistant needed to assist the regional director with office work. Duties include reception, data entry, basic accounting, desktop publishing, word processing and Facebook updating. For more information, call 250-372-8168.
