Whatever happened to nurses who care?

I am in a wheelchair as a paraplegic. I have been for 11 years now and I do agree that some care aides are not treating people right.

For more than three months I have been with the only continuous care in Kamloops, High Country.

I used to have three different workers for three years.

Now I have eight to 10 different workers and for three months I’ve been leaving messages. For three months I’ve received no reply.

I have now gone to MLA Terry Lake.

I find it very difficult to have all these different workers. No one knows where anything goes or my routine, not to mention they all have my home door code to get in.

Come on, I am a vibrant young woman and it’s hard to be in the chair.

I’ve been searching for employment all the time and have gotten plenty of interviews. However, when I get there all they see is a paraplegic.

Whatever happened to nurses caring about patients? Now it’s just push and shove, do what they want without even remotely considering how I and others feel.

It’s hard enough not feeling complete.
