International Women’s Day is being marked in Kamloops Friday on the Overlanders Bridge.
Between 2 and 4 p.m., women are being encouraged to line up on the bridge for an event called Join Me On The Bridge.
The gathering is aimed at building bridges for peace and hope for the future. Similar events have been held by women since 2004, spreading to 119 cities in 70 countries. It began in response to the genocide of thousands of women and children in Congo and it continues to grow as an awareness movement.
